Ferdinand Burgdorff (American, 1881-1975) Landscape / A Southwestern Mesa View Signed and dated "Ferdinand Burgdorff 1923" l. r., identified on a label affixed to the reverse. Oil on canvasboard, 14 x 16 in. (35.6 x 40.6 cm), in a period frame. Condition: Minor surface grime and abrasions. Provenance: John H. Garzoli, San Francisco, to a private New England collection. The abrasions are in the upper left of the sky, the largest measureing just under 1/2 inch. The painting would benefit from cleaning. There is heavy (natural) pigment fluorescence within the sky.
