Martin Brothers Blue Glazed Stoneware Narrative Ewer, dated March, 1896 and numbered 632, pinched spout and angular handle above a body incised with a continuous scene of maritime distress related to the Norman Conquest and likely taken from the Bayeux Tapestry , inscribed "Harold's ship stranded on the Norman coast, in the territory of Guy Count of Ponthieu", incised R. W. Martin London & Southall mark, ht. 9 7/8 in. Excellent condition.
