Japanese Edo Period Carved Ivory Netsuke, 19th century, signed Masahiro and inscribed with the name of his pavilion, depicting a rabbit with a mallet pounding rice cakes against a full moon, eyes inlaid with red coral, lg. 1 7/8 in. Note: A similar example was sold, at Christie's, New York, September 21, 2006, lot 316, illustrated. Crack running from front to back, other lines to the side; minor discoloration.
