Grinling Gibbons-style Carved Fruitwood Architectural Decoration/Valance, late 19th century, wood and gesso, carved as a bough of laurel tied together at the center, with limed or white washed finish to front, wd. 37 7/8 in. two metal hangers screwed onto the back, with two screws of each extending through the wood and partially visible from front. holes to back from previous hangers. missing the end of a left to center. several glued cracks throughout, and one repaired spot with two small nails. dirty. back surface with some flaking gesso. some minor shrinkage cracks.
