Edinburgh: printed for Peter Hill; P. Bower, and Verner, Hood and Sharpe, 1807. 8vo (7 3/8 x 4 1/2 inches), modern half calf over maroon boards, endpapers renewed. First edition, complete with four engraved plates (three views and a city plan). The index includes the entries "Golfers, company of", "Golf, history of", "Golf, nature of", "Golf balls, how made" and "Golf balls, number made at St. Andrews." First few leaves strengthened with Japanese tissue; some light soiling to text, with a few tiny tears at several page edges; otherwise very good.
