the first, an English example, with rubbed marks, having a handle worked in the form of a plump gentleman with a cigar in his mouth, set over a tortoise shell collar; the second having a handle in the form of a clown's head bearing Birmingham marks and dated 1922; the third, an Austrian example, having a handle in the form of a hound's head over a collar worked to show foliate scrolls; each surmounting an ebonized shaft. Length of longest 36 1/2 inches.
