Johannes Ernst Spangenburg(Southeastern Pennsylvania, active 1755-1814) - Watercolor and ink on paper debit and credit ledger cover fraktur for Jacob Opp, dated 1785, 13" x 8". Jacob Opp descended in the Bixler family of Easton and served in the Revolutionary War. His involvement is recounted in the "History of Easton" by Condit, which accompanies this lot. For a similar example see "Pennsylvania German Fraktur of the Philadelphia Free Library", volume 1, plate 173.
