Idar-Oberstein, Germany, a regal and lifelike carving depicting the head of an eagle formed from a single amethyst crystal, the variegated color ranging from near colorless to intense purple, highly transparent with translucent areas, the plumage and beak with finely textured detail, the eyes inset with sculpted 18 karat yellow gold and cabochon cut citrine, the neck finished with a hinged yellow gold closure set with a fine translucent banded grey agate slice, the interior delicately hollowed out. Hand inscribed: (Maker's mark EB for Eberhard Bank) M. WILD. Length: 7.60 cm.
