Idar-Oberstein, Germany, beautifully capturing a realistically carved sea turtle in motion as it swims along the reef, the turtle carved from an impressive crystal of Brazilian gem morganite in a pure pink hue, the fins reduced to an elegantly thin form to use the highly transparent beryl to full effect, the limbs and head finished with a crosshatched design to mimic the skin, the shell intricately scalloped, the face enhanced with expressive carving around the inset green eyes, supported on a water-clear rock crystal quartz base accented with a quartz crystal cluster accurately depicting white coral. Hand inscribed: (Maker's mark GD for Gerd Dreher). 20.30 x 15.20 x 15.20 cm.
