Complete with 12 illustrations by Parrish. This book represents three notable firsts: Baum's first book written for children, first book with Maxfield Parrish's illustrations and the first appearance of the character Dorothy who would feature prominently in Baum's next book, Light soiling to boards; ends bumped and spine ends slightly frayed; bookplate tipped to front pastedown; hinges starting.
