Pennsylvania painted poplar dower chest by Johann Rank, dated "1798" , the lift lid with 2 rectangular panels over a case with a central, salmon and ivory double-arched tombstone panel enclosing 5 stylized tulips arising from a double-handled urn incised with the maker's name and date, flanked by 2 similar single-arch panels, each with urn incised with maker's name, all on a brown stippled ground, supported by a bracket foot base, 22 1/2" h. , 51" w., 22 1/4" d.
