CHERIER A PARIS THE HARVEST Cherier a Paris. Made circa 1770. Fine and rare, Louis XVI gilt bronze and white marble 8-day going, hour and half-hour striking mantel clock. Drum case housing the movement raised on a fl uted pillaster, surmounted by a fruiting vine issuing from a basket, fl anked on either side by putti, one holding a garland of fl owers, the other a sheaf of wheat, fl uted outswept base, fl aming urn at the front, white marble base rasied on six toupie feet. White enamel, convex, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic fi ve-minute numerals, regulation arbour above 12. Pierced and engraved gilt brass hands. 88 mm, gilt brass, with going barrels both for the going and the striking trains, anchor escapement, brass bob pendulum with silk suspension, striking the hours and halfhours on a bell with count wheel on the back plate. Dial and movement signed. Dim. 33 x 22 x 17 cm
