Robert (Chaux-de-Fonds), Swiss, circa 1840. Fine gilt-bronze Grande and Petite Sonnerie striking carriage clock with alarm, in original brown leather covered fitted travelling box with tooled decoration. Gilt-bronze "one piece" with cast floral and foliage decoration, glazed fora, faces and top. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer minutes ring. Selection lever below the dial for Grande and Petite Sonnerie/Silent. Blued-steel "treffle" hands. Brass rectangular with going barrels both for the going and the striking trains, brass platform cylinder escapement by Franey with plain gold three-arm balance, ruby end-stone, flat balance spring with regulator. Striking on two bells, the striking work on the back plate. Pull wound alarm on a bell. Signed on the dial. Platform escapement punched Fumey. Dim. 18 x 12 x 10 cm., excluding the handle.
