John Smeiton in Yorke, English, circa 1645. Very fine and rare gilt metal octagonal single-hand rock crystal pendant watch. Two-body, both of elongated, octagonal faceted rock crystals, mounted into a gilt frame, tulip pendant, small gilt silver finial. 23.7 x 23.8 mm, oval, gilt brass full plate, early Egyptian pillars, fusee and gut-line for the going train, verge escapement, two-arm circular folio, elongated cock pierced and engraved with asymmetrical floral decoration, secured by a screw, worm and wheel set-up.Signed on the back plate.Dim. 30 x 52 mm. Published in the Sandberg book, pages 48-49.
