J. H. Ester, Geneva, circa 1630.Very fine and rare silver, gilt metal, and rock crystal single-hand teardrop-shaped pendant form watch. Three-body, both engraved bezels hinged and fitted with rock crystal domes, plain silver band in replacement of a crystal, engraved similarly to the bezels, tulip pendant, loose ring, small finial. 22.5 x 30.8 mm, teardrop-shaped, gilt brass full plate, turned vase pillar, fusee and gut-line for the going train, verge escapement, two-arm iron circular foliot, elongated gilt pinned cock pierced and engraved with fruits and leaves, wheel and click set-up with similarly decorated cock.Signed on the back plate.Dim. 52 x 28 x 21 mm. Published in the Sandberg book, pages 362-363. Notes Ester Jean-Henry (père) (1594-1669)Master watchmaker to whom were apprenticed Jacob Delacroix in 1639 and Amy Deneria in 1665. He specialised in pendant form watches.
