Irish Gold Watch Shean Houston, Dublin, No. 316. The cases by Arthur O’Neill with Dublin hallmarks for 1781. Fine and very rare, Irish 18K gold, pair-cased pocket watch. Outer: two-body, polished. Inner: two-body, “bassine”, polished. Gilt dust cover. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer dot minute divisions and Arabic five-minute numerals. Gold beetle and poker hands. 34 mm., frosted gilt full plate, tapered cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, lever escapement, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and foliate engraved single-footed cock, diamond endstone, silver regulation dial. Movement signed, both cases with the punchmark of Arthur O’Neill, Dublin. Diam. 49 mm. Notes 18th century watches with Irish gold cases are extremely rare, both cases of the present watch are fully marked for Dublin 1781 and bear the punch mark AON for Arthur O’Neill.
