Frères Rochat, Genève, No. 492, completed by Charles Bruguier, circa 1840. Very fine silver gilt and enamel, singing bird box. Two part rectangular, engine-turned with a blue champlevé enamelled decoration, the cover with applied silver gilt foliage ornament chiselled in high relief. Hinged compartment for the key. Gold bird cover enamel panel painted with a fine Swiss lake sicle landscape, the Mont Blanc on the background. Multi-coloured feathered bird with moving body, wings, tail, opening beak and turning head. Brass plate, fusee with chair, stacked cams, fly regulator and rectangular bellow. Signature punched on the movement. Notes The movement of this singing bird box is punched both with the signature "Frères Rochat" in full letters, and by the "pine cone", trade mark of C. Bruguier who bought the remaining stock of the Frères Rochat after the closing of their workshop, circa 1825.
