Math. Hill, London, No. 452, with London hallmarks for 1776. Very fine and rare 20 ct. gold and enamel pair cased watch, in the manner of George Michael Moser. Outer double body, bezels with white and blue chamleve enamelled decoration, the back with a neoclassical allegorical scene painted en grisaille within a maroon translucent enamel surround over engine-turning. Inner double body, bassine, polished. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Blued steel "poker and beetle" hands. Hinged, gilt brass full plate with baluster pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel threearm balance, flat balance spring and gilt brass English cock with diamond end-stone. Signed on the gilt brass dust cap and the back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 47 mm.
