T. Benson, London, made for the Chinese market, circa 1790. Fine gilt brass, paste-set, skeleton watch. Double body, Consular, glazed on both faces, the bezels set with alternate white and red Stones. White enamel with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute ring and offset subsidiary seconds, gilt "fleurs des lys" garland decoration. Gilt brass hands. Hinged gilt brass, the back plate fully pierced and engraved with scrolls and flowers, column pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel sixarm balance, flat balance spring. Signed on the dial and movement. In good condition. Diam. 55 mm.
