Lugier de Montpellier, made for Capiaumont à Saint Pons, circa 1840. Rare and fine dead centre second watch with special escapement and pirouette. Silver, "forme quatre baguettes". Eccentric white enamel with Breguet numerals, small circular aperture for the visible balance, outer centre seconds ring. Inverted gilt brass full plate with going barrel, flat-wheel cylinder escapement with pirouette, plain brass five-arm balance with pirouette, the flat spiral spring set on the pirouette wheel. Signed "Lugier" on the back plate, "Capiaumont" on the dial. In very good condition. Diam. 54 mm. Notes Very good example of an unusual arrangement for dead centre seconds watch. Previously in the collection of The Time Museum, this watch was sold by Sotheby's in New York on 11 December 1986, lot 159 of the catalogue.
