Henry Hindley, York, bearing the London hallmarks for 1760. Extremely fine 20 ct. gold and enamel, pair cased watch with matching chatelaine, seal and key. Outer double body with very fine painted champleve enamelled polychrome floral decoration over a sharp cut engraving. Four elements matching chatelaine. Plain double body bassine inner case. GiIt brass dust-cap. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Blued steel "poker and beetle" hands. Hinged, gilt brass, full plate with baluster pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass English cock engraved with a mask and pierced with foliage, diamond end-stone. Signed on the back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 49 mm. Notes The enamelling of the case and chatelaine is of outstanding quality and rarely seen on watches. It is usually to be found on the finest of English and French gold and enamel snuff boxes.
