J. J. Lepaute, Horloger du Roy à Paris, 247 rue Saint Honoré, Paris, No. 43, circa 1815. Extremely fine mahogany centre-seconds mantel regulator with equation of time, annual calendar and remontoire. Rectangular moulded with box-wood inlaid borders. Silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals and inner semi-circular sector for the equation of time, the subsidiary revolving year calendar ring below the dial. Gilt brass dial plate with apertures for indicating the state of winding. Blued-steel "fleur-de-lys" hands and "arrow" pointer for the annual calendar. Notes The design of the dial and the workmanship of this regulator can be compared with those made by Antide Janvier. The unusual ten-seconds remontoir with a differential disposed at right angle, seems to have been employed in the Lepaute's workshop only.
