Ridel à Paris, circa 1810. Fine and imposing gilt bronze and white marbie striking mantle clock with calendar. Narrow white enamel chapter ring with Arabic numerals and inner red date numerals. Pierced gilt elaborated hands. Brass circular, skeletonised plates, going barrels, anchor escapement, short pendulum with silk suspension. Hour and half-hour striking on a bell with outside locking plate. Signed on the dial. In very good condition. Dim. 53 x 54 x 16 cm. Notes Ridel à Paris Was working rue aux Ours, circa 1800. Specialised in skeleton clocks, he made outstanding clocks with the dials and franges enamelled by eminent crafstmen such as Cotteau and Dubuisson and signed most of the finest moon-phase astronomical decimal skeleton clocks with remontoire.
