Margaine, François Arsène, Paris, circa 1880. Fine gilt bronze, eight-day going, quarter - repeating "grande and petite sonnerie" carriage clock with alarm. Gilt brass, "Gorge", glazed on five sides, entirely engraved with scrolls and foliage. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring, subsidiary dial for the alarm setting. Blued-steel "Fuseaux" hands. Gilt brass dial-plate fully engraved with foliage decoration matching that of the case. Brass, rectangular with going barrels both on the going and the striking train, platform escapement with lateral lever escapement, bimetallic balance, blued-steel flat balance spring. Striking repeating and alarm on gongs with button on the top and optional grande sonnerie/petite sonnerie/silent optional lever in the base.Trade Mark on the back plate. In very good condition. Dim. 14,5 x 9 x 8 cm. excluding the handle.
