Per. Viala à Genève, No. 8540, circa 1790. Fine 18 ct. gilt brass and enamel, paste-set watch, in a glazed gilt brass protecting case. Double body, Louis XVI with paste-set bezels, the back enamelled with a painted reading maiden in classical dress, paste-set frame and outer blue translucent decoration. White enamel with Arabic numerals. Gold hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate with conical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end-piece. Signed on the dial and movement. In very good condition. Diam. 58 mm.
