Georges Baumgartner, French, circa 1890. Extremely rare and interesting, silver 33 day going, keyless watch with double calendar. Four body, massive, "bassine", polished with gold hinges. Hinged silver cuvette with engineturned border, engraved with technical details. White enamel with Roman numerals within gilt shaped frames (hair line), sunk subsidiary dials for dates and days of the week. Gold serpent hands. Gilt brass full plate with three going barrels wound by means of three individual winding crowns and driving the central pinion, 35 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet paladium balance spring with rgulator. Signed on the dial. In very good condition. Diam. 59 mm. Notes No other watch of this type is known to exist. It could be a prototype made in order to apply for a patent which apparently has never been taken. The three equidistant going barrels are driving the central pinion in such a way that it is maintained in a perfect vertical position. A very clever construction for a long going train, since the pressure of each barrel is compensated by that of the two others.
