Pair of Wedgwood Black Basalt Wine and Water Ewers, England, 19th century, the water ewer with figure of Triton seated atop the shoulder and modeled holding horns of a marine monster below the spout, aquatic festoons to either side; the wine ewer with figure of Bacchus seated atop the shoulder and modeled holding the horns of a ram's head below the spout, fruiting grapevine festoons to either side; impressed marks, ht. 15 in. One with an old repair to a plinth (broken in half and poorly repaired). Not visible from topside. No other cracks, chips or restorations.
