Théodore Rousseau (French, 1812-1867) Paysage d'Auvergne Initialed "THR" l. l., titled, inscribed, and dated "Paysage d'Auvergne Théodore Rousseau 1830" on the stretcher. Oil on canva, 15 1/8 x 20 1/8 in. (38.4 x 51.2 cm), framed. Condition: Lined, retouch, surface grime. The lining is adhered with glue or resin. The retouch is scattered dashes and strokes throughout the composition. these are especially prevalent to the left half of the sky, and the shadows within the green hills to the right. There is some fine and stable craquelure. N.B. Michel Schulman will include this painting in the supplement to the catalogue raisonne and will be issuing a certificate of authenticity for the painting.
