Louis Charles Bombled (French, 1862-1927) The Stag Hunt Signed "Ch. Bombléd" l.l. Oil on canvas, 13 x 18 1/4 in. (33.0 x 46.4 cm), framed. Condition: Patch reinforcement, retouch, craquelure, minor surface grime. Scattered retouch in four spots in the sky and also in an area of repair located beneath the horse on the far left, measuring about 2 x 1/2 in., and corresponding to the patch on the reverse. Possible retouch in shadow bottom center. Craquelure overall, more pronounced center right near the hounds and lower left in the grass above the signature. There are two small white accretions upper center that do not appear to be an abrasion when examined with a loupe. Patch on the reverse lower right quadrant measures 3 x 4 inches. There is a partial canvas stencil from Paris on the reverse.
