Jay Hall Connaway (American, 1893-1970) Summer Sea , alternatively titled October Sea Signed and dated "Connaway 42" l. r., artist and title inscribed on the stretcher and frame, identified on labels from Tomorrow's Masterpieces Inc., New York, and the Macbeth Gallery, New York, affixed to the reverse. Oil on canvas, 20 x 30 in. (50.8 x 76.2 cm), framed. Condition: Surface losses, light washes of retouch, craquelure, surface rubs and mild abrasions, surface grime. Craquelure to areas of heavier impasto, no additional condition issues to report.
