Provenance: Acquired directly from the artist. N.B. The present work depicts the ghost town of Pomona in the southern part of the Namib Desert. The diamond mining settlement flourished at the turn of the twentieth century, and at its height, held approximately one thousand German and Namibian inhabitants. In depicting ruinous buildings eroded by the hot Namibian desert winds, Alexander captures the lost hopes of a people and man's struggle against nature in a harsh environement. A certificate from the artist and Elizabeth White and Associates accompanies the lot.
