Russian Silver and Niello Cigarette Case, Moscow, 1871, Viktor Savinkov, assayer, maker possibly Ivan Ivanovich Futikin, oblong, with overall geometric niello decoration, the lid with scene of a troika racing through a winter landscape, light gold-wash to interior, lg. 4 3/4 in., approx. 4 troy oz. underside with scroll motif monogrammed H and dated 72. minor surface scratching. a few gouge marks near latch from old attempts to pry open. city mark partially rubbed. fineness mark 84.
