Italian Violin, Spirito Sorsana, Cunei, c. 1725, labeled SPIRITUS SORSANA, FECIT CUNEI 1729, length of one-piece back 13 7/8 in., 353 mm, with case. Certificate: Bein & Fushi, Chicago, April 2, 1987. Inlaid rectangular patches inlaid in area adjacent to lower treble corner of back. These are also patched on the inside. Inlay approx. 7 cm across lower center of back. No inlays in soundpost area of back. Two repaired cracks below lower treble corner of back. Various repaired face cracks. Top arching settled in breast area and in area of treble bridge foot. The violin is judged to be in good playing condition, with extensive cosmetic work to consider.
