Seven Victorian Tartanware Sewing Items, late 19th century, three book-form needle cases, one in McBeth, lg. 3 7/8, one in McLean, lg. 3, and a Stuart mounted to front with an image of a statue of a maiden, lg. 5; a slender cylindrical needle case in Caledonia, lg. 3 3/4; two pincushions, one small double-ended cylindrical in Rob Roy, lg. 1 1/2, and a bowl-form on three ball feet in MacDuff, dia. 2 1/2; and a McPherson thimble case with pincushion lid, ht. 1 5/8 in. needlecases with light usage wear--the McLean example with small loss to spine. Rob Roy pin cushion with some surface wear, and wear to fabric. bowl-form pin cushion with minor age wear, and some loss to lacquer at feet.
