Allan M. D'Arcangelo (American, 1930-1998) Constellation #7 Signed, inscribed, dated, and titled "© A. D. Arcangelo NYC 1970..." on the reverse, identified on labels including one from Obelisk Gallery, Boston, on the reverse. Acrylic on canvas, 60 x 60 in. (152.4 x 152.4 cm), unframed. Condition: Surface grime and abrasions. Provenance: Collection of Melvin B. Nessel, Boston, Massachusetts. Surface grime, particularly along the edges from handling. There are mild scrapes and abrasions and stray marks, located mainly in the lower 1/3 of the composition. In the lower left quadrant, about 21 inches up from the bottom, there is a vertical scrape about 4 inches in length. There are stray marks, perhaps pencil, located in the gray block 12 inches up from the bottom edge. There is an abrasion in the lower right corner and three stretcher bar marks along the lower edge.
