Pierre Emmanuel Damoye (French, 1847-1916) Marais à Arleaux Signed, inscribed, and dated "Damoye Paris 93" l. l., identified on labels on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 15 3/4 x 25 1/2 in. (40.0 x 64.8cm), framed. Condition: Lined, retouch, craquelure. The lining is adhered with wax. The retouch is thin dashes and glazes to the sky (they read as yellowed areas of varnish within the clouds), and a horizontal line of retouch about 2 inches long just above and to the right of the signature. The craquelure is stable. The work is horizontal as the dimensions here indicate.
