Sterling Coin-mounted Open Salts, San Francisco, late 19th century, round, each mounted with five small international coins, including Britain, Hawaii, Mexico, the United States, and Canada, most mid to late 19th century, with a few late 18th century, dia. 1 3/4, with ten Gorham "Colonial" pattern salt spoons, lg. 2 1/8 in., monogrammed, all in fitted chartreuse satin-lined and velvet-covered Shreve box, approx. 11 troy oz. monogrammed H. four with significant black staining/pitting to interior. two with a few pitting spots. all with some usage wear and surface wear to the coins from cleaning. ten spoons only (spaces in box for 12). minor age wear to case.
