Carl Frederick Gaertner (American, 1898-1952) Tobacco, Tin & Whitewash Signed and dated "CARL GAERTNER/1950" l. r. , identified on an exhibition label from The Cleveland Museum on the back of the frame. Gouache on paper, sight size 17 3/8 x 29 3/8 in., framed. Condition: Rippling, not examined out of frame. Exhibition registration label on the back of the frame reads, "33RD MAY SHOW/THE CLEVELAND MUSEUM OF ART/May 2 to June 10, 1951/CARL GAERTNER/TOBACCO, TIN AND WHITEWASH" The box marked "Accepted" is checked. The artist's name and title of the work are added in ink, likely in the artist's hand, to the printed registration label.
