Rudolf Knorlein (1902-1988) Ceramic Sculpture Glazed earthenware Austria, c. 1930 Head of a woman with green loop hair, black face with high color on neck on an oval plinth in green glaze, incised markers mark under glaze, some losses, ht. 13 3/4 in. Knorlein was a sculptor and ceramicist worked for the Wiener Werkstatte, Gmundner keramik, and for Goldscheider. He was famous for his new colours and glazes which played a major design role in the West German Goldscheider range. He also designed wall masks for Goldscheider.
