Georgian Mahogany Needlepoint-upholstered Convertible Footstool Library Steps, late 18th/early 19th century, rectangular, the padded top overupholstered in gros and petit point needlework, with hinged end opening to two tiers of treads, on slender, tapering square section legs ending in spade feet, closed ht. 20 1/2, wd. 24 3/4, dp. 17 1/4 in. Needlework with overall fading/toning; a few losses to the decorative studs. A few runner strips replaced to the interior of the frame. Overall usage wear, including fairly heavy wear to the edges of the legs, and usage wear to the treads.
