Condition: Lined, retouch, scattered paint loss, surface grime. Provenance: Estate of N. David Scotti, Providence, Rhode Island. N.B. This copy of Venus and the Lute Player is based upon the much larger composition (65 x 82 1/2 in.) by Titian and Workshop, in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The signature appears to be "G. Beigel" or perhaps "J. Beigel." Lined onto aluminum and then canvas. Loss of paint and canvas (1/4 x 3/4 in.) in u.r. corner
