Condition: Puncture to u.r. quadrant, subtle varnish inconsistencies. N.B. Mary Josephine Walters, also known as Josephine Walters or M.J. Walters, is one of only a few known woman artists of the Hudson River School. She studied under Asher B. Durand, and was said to have been his favorite female student. T-shaped restored tear with retouch to the u.r. quadrant spanning approx. 4 x 1 in., puncture to u.r. quadrant (to the right of the restored tear) spans approx. 21/2 x 3 1/2 inches at extreme height and width.
