Jean Eve (French, 1900-1968) Fleurs de Jardin - Vase Gris Signed "Jean Eve" l. r., signed, dated, titled, and inscribed "...1965/No. 728/boch Allemand" on the reverse, inscribed "Jean Eve 12 Ma. 1965" on the stretcher, and with a label from Wally Findlay Galleries, New York, on the frame backing. Oil on canvas, 24 x 15 in. (61.0 x 38.0 cm), framed. Condition: Varnish inconsistencies, surface grime. Inscribed in a different hand "#6 Chicago/ Wally F " on the stretcher. Pigment fluorescence in the blue background in the lower 1/3 of the composition, perhaps due to revarnishing.
