French Cabochon-mounted and Gilt . 800 Silver Ecclesiastical Chalice, late 19th/early 20th century, the cup with gold-washed interior, applied tricolor gilt angels and stylized foliate decoration, and cabochon amethysts, the angels holding banners that spell out "Hic est enim calix sanguinis mei," over cabochon-mounted and foliate-decorated flattened knop, on engraved tapered stem leading to tricolor floriform foot, decorated with scenes from the Passion of Christ and applied stylized foliate decoration leading into gargoyles with cabochon amethysts in their open mouths, reticulated gallery at base, with French inscription to bottom indicating that the chalice was given to a priest at his first Mass held July 16, 1923, by his uncle, ht. 9 1/2 in., approx. 21.8 troy oz.
