Engraved and published by W. Ward, (London Late 18th Century) Lot of Two: THE BIRTH of an HEIR, and CHRISTENING the HEIR., both dated March 1st, 1799, identified in the matrix. Hand-colored mezzotint, sight size 19 1/2 x 25 in., in matching bird's-eye maple frames with gilt liners. Condition: Toning, foxing, not examined out of frames. Literature: The Magazine Antiques, August 1991, "The Shirley-Eustis House, Roxbury, Massachusetts," by John Bradford Hermanson, p. 215, pictures these mezzotints while they were on loan to that historic house.
