Joseph Jeswald (American, 1927-2009) Refuge Signed "Jeswald" l. r., identified in a note from the Montserrat School of Visual Art, Beverly, Massachusetts, in the artist's hand. Oil on canvas, 50 x 47 1/2 in., framed. Condition: Minor surface grime. N.B. Joseph Jeswald trained at the Academie Julian, Academie Fernand Leger in Paris, and at Columbia University. He was the founder and president of Montserrat College of Art from 1970-1984, and maintained a studio in Sarasota, Florida, from 1991-2009.
