Continental, Late 19th/Early 20th century, possibly French. Hand painted porcelain lidded serving dish with green bamboo stalk and leaved decoration on borders with small cornflower blue flowers, purple violets and pink roses. Additional floral groupings throughout on white ground. Lid and serving container with cobalt blue and gilt accented crests with ribboned palm frond (symbolizing victory and justice) and a snake or serpent coiled around a tree (symbolizing wisdom). Crest under a crown and with scrolled foliate border. Lid with vermillion red glazed finial in foliate form with gilt accents. Server with two applied animal face handles in matching vermillion red glaze with gilt accents highlighing facial features. Unmarked. Height 8.5", width 14", depth 9.25".
