Hugh Newell (Irish/American, 1830-1915) Full-length Portrait of Mary Nichols Sutherland (1880-1969), Daughter of Georgiana Nichols (1847-2930) , c. 1884. Oil on canvas, 30 x 22 in., framed. Condition: Lined (on aluminum). N.B. The present work was commissioned by the sitter's father, Eugene Sutherland, when Newell resided on the Sutherland estate in Montclair, New Jersey.
