Italian Violin, Oreste Martini, Mantua, 1919, bearing the maker's label, length of back 359 mm. Very good, signed on the inside back MARTINI ORESTE, MANTOVA 1919 NO 45. repaired saddle crack, bass side. Oreste Martini (1893-1957) was a pupil of Stefano Scarampella. This instrument is from his first period and shows the influence of his teacher, including the "triangle" at the tail of the scroll. Many of his violins are now carrying Scarampella's label.
