Francisco de Goya (Spanish, 1746-1828) Ya tienen asiento, plate 26 from LOS CAPRICHOS , from the first edition, 1799 (Harris, 61 iii/iii). Identified within the plate. Etching with aquatint on laid paper, plate size 8 1/2 x 6 in. (21.5 x 15.2 cm), matted, unframed. Condition: Margins over 1/2 inch, gentle soiling, slice to left margin, brown paper affixed to edge of the left margin, annotations to lower margin and verso. N.B. Sold for the benefit of the collections of the Smith College Museum of Art. The sheet measures 11 3/8 x 7 3/4 inches. The "slice" runs along much of the left edge parallel to and 3/4 inches outside of the platemark. The other three edges of the sheet are gilded.
